1. Hiroshima & Western Japan Travel Reference Map 1st Edition 1:7,500/1:550,000 - 2027 Edi

This is a brand new title for ITMB. As far as we know, there has never been a map of Hiroshima, one of the most famous cities in the world. It is a very large city, with a large park called Ground Zero as its focal point. The first atomic bomb used in world history was dropped on this city in 1945, killing over 30,000 people instantly and condemning tens of thousands more to die slowly of radiation poisoning. Ground Zero is now a peace park, and our cover picture portrays one of the buildings severely damaged by the bomb. The focal point of the peace park is a large museum, portraying the bombing, and it is always crowded with visitors. The park also has a peace bell, which my grandsons rang while visiting Hiroshima last year. This is a VERY moving experience, extremely popular with overseas visitors, and the city now has its own map. About time! The second side is a map of the central-western part of Japan, essentially from Nagoya through Osaka/Kyoto and Okayama to Hiroshima, including the large island of Shikoku. This island is often missed by visitors, which is a shame. It is connected to the main island by a rail line from Okayama and by three motorways. Its touristic interest is the city of Kochi.
