Travel to Russia isn’t easy these days as that country imposes restrictions in retaliation for sanctions by much of the world as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. However, it is possible and the heart of Mother Russia is a rough circle northeast of Moscow known as the Golden Ring of culturally-significant heritage cities, such as Vladimir, Suzdal, and Yaroslavl. The ‘crème de la crème’ is, of course, Sergiev Posad. Insets of these ancient cities are included on this map, along with a very detailed map of the region north and east of Moscow. The reverse side portrays western, or ‘European’ Russia from its western border to Perm and from St, Petersburg to the Caspian Sea. This is the most densely-populated part of Russia and the part most visited. The route of the Trans-Siberian Rail Line is prominently shown This map also includes a large inset of Moscow’s centre, focused on the Kremlin and the historic old town of Moscva. This map was at press when Russia invaded Ukraine, and we held back on actually printing until now in the hope that hostilities might have been resolved over the winter. Sadly, this is not the case, but Russia is too important a country to ignore, so here is a very good map of its heartland. Enjoy.
